Just like with anything else in life, there are always good sources and bad sources. There is always a good way to do things and there is a bad way. There is also an easy way to do things and a hard way. But it really all boils down to a pair of possibilities and a market for serving legal docs. There is no exception to this rule. There are excellent legal docs service companies and there are outright lousy services. If you don’t like wasting your time, effort, and money going with process servers that just can’t seem to get their act together, be on the look-out for the following five signs of a lousy legal docs service companies:
No system
You know that you are dealing with a shady or sketchy legal docs service company when it seems that nobody is in charge. It seems that they just take your money and they take your legal docs and roll a dice. That is not the way to do business. That is not the way to develop peace of mind, especially considering the highest stakes involved. At the very least, you need to find a company that has a solid document system so you can be rest assured that there is a high chance that your legal docs will get into the right hands.
No real training
Anybody can say that they train. Anybody can get a group of random people together and have them recite some stuff from a book and consider those people trained. That is not real training. Real training is all about tracking. Real training is all about monitoring performance. Real training is all about building a long term relationship with the person working for a service process company. If you don’t see these, then the company that you were thinking of handling your process servers doesn’t really have any real training at all. You may want to steer clear of such company. Bad training or no training can really lead to lousy results.
Bad Track Record
A company might give you some sweet talk regarding what it can do for you. They can make all sorts of promises. They might even have some glossy or flashy brochure that can get you excited. But the problem is, they cannot hide their bad track record. If you are dealing with the legal docs service company that has a bad track record, that’s a very clear sign. Steer clear of that company. Consider yourself warned.
No Focus on Creativity
Unlike other services, serving legal docs requires a lot of creativity. Why? People are always trying to rebuff the legal docs that you are serving. For the most part, these legal docs force them to show up in court. This legal paperwork starts the lawsuit process. Obviously, most people don’t want to get served. So, you need process servers that have the creativity needed to get your legal paperwork in the right hands.
No Focus on Timing
Regardless of how clever your process servers may be, it all boils down to timing. Even if you are very resourceful, even if you have a system and you are methodical, even if the person is there at the right time, your legal docs are not going to get served. It really is that simple. So make sure you look for a legal docs service company that focuses on timing. When a company doesn’t focus on correct timing, it is a red flag. They are probably the wrong company for you.
