These Celebrities are Keeping Process Servers Busy!

Some celebrities have a tendency to get themselves into legal trouble, and the process servers responsible for serving their papers often stay very busy!

Movie star Shia LaBeouf, for instance, is now being sued for $5 million after calling a bartender “racist” for not serving him at a bar. Bartender David Bernstein is suing LaBeouf for defamation, character assassination, and assault due to the backlash he has received for denying LaBeouf his drink on the grounds of already being too intoxicated. According to Bernstein’s attorney, Bernstein has “experienced significant emotional distress, anxiety and fear” since the incident, and he is now called “the racist bartender” by LaBeouf’s fans.

The movie star’s attorneys, of course, have a very different view of the situation. “The recent lawsuit filed against Shia is baseless. The statements attributed to Shia forming the basis of the action do not remotely constitute ‘defamation’. The case is little more than an effort to harass our client. We will vigorously defend and seek dismissal of this frivolous action and will seek recovery of all attorneys fees and costs from the plaintiff,” LaBeouf’s lawyer said. There is no doubt that process servers will have a number of papers to deliver back and forth to both parties as this lawsuit continues.

Labeouf isn’t the only celebrity fighting unwanted legal charges. Tiger Woods was arrested for driving under the influence in Jupiter, Florida at the end of May. When police found him, he was parked awkwardly on the side of the road slumped over the wheel sleeping. Officers noted signs of damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle. Though Woods later asserted in a public statement that an unfortunate combination of prescription drugs led to his traffic violation, he is still due in court in August to face the punishment for his reckless driving.
