Serving any type of papers can be complicated and dangerous. Whether it’s foreclosure, bankruptcy, or a civil case being presented, very few people want the formal reminder that their lives are complicated and their finances threatened. However, serving drug-related papers is infinitely more difficult.
It’s usually a drug-related search warrant that causes the commotion. Take, for instance, a raid that just occurred in Nampa, Idaho. The Nampa Police Department worked together with DEA agents and probation and parole officers to raid two different homes with drug-related search warrants that were part of a long-term narcotics investigation.
When the warrants were served, the officers were able to seize heroin, methamphetamine, and a stolen car. Finding stolen property is very common when serving drug-related search warrants, as is finding collections of drugs. In all, four people were arrested, one issued a summons, and one man is still being pursued. Of the people arrested, two received counts of trafficking heroin, one was charged with grand theft by possession and frequenting a drug house, and one for frequenting a drug house and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Though difficult, messy, and dangerous, serving these types of papers is incredibly important to the community. Heroin and other drugs, as well as the drug traffickers themselves, are incredibly dangerous to their communities. Many drug busts also catch gang activity and their millions of dollars in drugs and guns, like the June bust that led to the seizure of 67 firearms, $95,000 in cash, and $1.6 million in drugs including cocaine and methamphetamine.
It’s difficult for most people to comprehend such levels of crime, which is why professionals know how to serve warrants in the safest and most efficient ways possible.
